Modeling tips – Selfies with confidence

We’ve all had experiences where we’ve been photographed (socially or professionally) with the most awful results.

It’s important to remember that not even the most experienced professional model can manage to pull off a great (or perfect) shot every single time.

The important thing is to take a relaxed approach to being photographed. If a previous photograph of you is disappointing – don’t worry – move on! The worst thing you can do is to stress and get anxious about being photographed.

So remember, the next time your friend next pulls out their mobile for a selfie, the single most important thing you need to do is RELAX!! Don’t over think it!

As soon as you become tense or nervous, a few things automatically happen to you physically….

So for some really basic but important modelling tips to remember – that will work every time (well almost every time).

The next time you find yourself tensing up in anticipation of that shutter sound….

  1. Relax!
  2. Lift and then drop down your shoulders – then keep them down and relaxed (this will automatically elongate your neck, making your jaw more defined – which is a good thing when in the search of that flattering angle)
  3. Relax your mouth and jaw by gently letting you lips part (ever so slightly) and BREATH!!

Selfies, groupies, “we-fies” (or whatever they call them these days) are meant to be fun and spontaneous. Keep in mind these basic modelling tips and relax – enjoy the process of being photographed by simply being comfortable within your own skin.
