Office Administration Course Student Success Story

For most students, the secretarial course and personal assistant training offered at Suzan Johnston Australia provides a great opportunity to get their foot in the door of their selected field. Today, we catch up with business administration course graduate, Erin Kovacic, who has quickly climbed the ranks to secure employment within the legal industry.

What is your current role?

My current role is a Property Paralegal at Arnold Bloch Leibler, a highly-awarded premium Australian law firm.

What made you decide to enrol in both the receptionist training and administration courses?

I was really lucky that I was eligible for government funded training for both courses. It was definitely a big plus, as I was able to attain dual qualifications in order to maximise my employment opportunities.

I decided to enrol first in the receptionist course because I knew I would benefit from the customer service training which is the underpinning of the Certificate II in Business. The receptionist course also provided me with crucial telephone skills training, allowing me to secure my first employment as a receptionist pretty much straight after I completed my nationally recognised training course.

After completing my training for receptionist, I continued on to undertake the personal assistant course, as I knew the Certificate III in Business Administration would give me the highly sought-after skills I needed to excel in the legal field.

What were some of the highlights during your administration course?

Throughout my PA training, I enjoyed making friends with my fellow classmates who shared the same objectives I had. I also enjoyed the personal presentation classes – something which is uniquely Suzan Johnston!

What inspired you to keep going during the PA course?

I was really motivated to finish the business training so that I could turn the skills and knowledge that I had acquired into a pay-check!

What advice would you give to people thinking about studying the administration training course?

I would tell people to go for it! Both the Certificate II in Business and the Certificate III in Business Administration courses are great for getting your foot in the door.

Do you think that the business training you received here at Suzan Johnston Australia gave you the skills and experience you needed to do what you’re currently doing?

I think that course definitely equipped me with the essential skills I needed to cross that threshold and get my first job in the receptionist role. By expanding on those competencies that I obtained, I was able to work my way up in the field to where I am now.

Describe your time at Suzan Johnston in 3 words

Fun. Educational. Friends.

What’s next for you? What career goals do you have in mind?

I plan to focus on the role that I am in now, learn as much as I can to be my best, and hopefully continue to progress upwards from here.
