Is the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care still a recognised qualification?

Yes. The Australian Children’s Education and Care Authority (ACECQA) is the body responsible for determining what qualifications are required under the National Law with the Children’s Services Industry. Is it easier to get a job if you hold the Diploma rather than just the Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care?

The National Regulations for minimum qualification requirements within child care centers are as follows:

This means that at least half the staff employed within a childcare centre must have (or be currently studying) the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. This also means there is still enormous demand for staff that only hold the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification. Child Care Centre’s definitely don’t need (and realistically nor can they afford) to employ only Diploma qualified educators.
